I’ve been taking a bit of a break from the internet over the last couple of weeks and I thought I would write a post about why.
At the end of October I was so determined to get back into a routine and post regular content to YouTube but, unfortunately, I fell ill. Working 6 days a week definitely took its toll on me–I ended up with a terrible cold and subsequent chest infection. Worst of all, I also lost my voice. Funnily enough, being a children’s English teacher (a job which involves a copious amount of singing) makes being sick even more difficult; I basically had to push through the sickness, even though I couldn’t speak loudly and couldn’t hold a tune.
In order to get better (and continue working without having to take time off), I basically spent the rest of my time sleeping and watching TV. For two-and-a-half weeks I gave up writing, video making, and basically everything that exerted too much energy in order to get better.
Thankfully, I feel loads better now!
I am still sick–this chest infection is persisting in the most annoying way–but I have heaps more energy, my voice is back, and I no longer feel exhausted all the time.
Hopefully now I can resume my regular writing and YouTubing routine.
This period has been really frustrating–no one likes being sick, especially if it stops them from doing the things they love–but it has really taught me the importance of taking care of myself. If I don’t get enough sleep, or take enough time off, I will suffer for it.
So, from now on, I’m going to focus on doing as much as I can while still trying to rest regularly, take days off and remember to do things for myself (like playing video games–recently I’ve become obsessed again with the Sims 4).
Thank you, guys, for putting up with my intermittent absence. Hopefully it is at its end!
